The suburbs of Western Sydney is a melting pot of creatives and none have managed to break the mould like Kwame has in 2018. There’s no denying that Kwame dominated the Australian hip-hop scene this year – and he’s not backing down yet. We’re obsessed with his track ‘NO TIME’, which you’ll catch all week on UNCO[V]ERED.
A chance meeting with A$AP Ferg t wo years ago confirmed the path he now treads and set the young hip-hop prodigy on a quest to empower others through music, just as he has been before.
A one year gap between releases allowed the young producer to refine his DIY production and prepare a mighty follow up. Bursting into 2018, Kwame returned with summer hip-hop anthem ‘WOW’ from his EP Endless Conversations. Written and produced by Kwame, the release propelled into multiple Spotify playlists and supports alongside heavyweights Migos, 6lack, AJ Tracey, Bliss n Eso and a national spot on the recent Peking Duk ‘Wasted’ tour.
Kwame WOWed crowds with three knock-out showcases at BIGSOUND festival. His second single off the Endless Conversations EP,‘ NO TIME’, earned Kwame even more praise and sealed his position as the new king of Australian hip-hop scene as well as a spot supporting Tkay Maidza on a national tour and opening for Skepta at The Forum in Melbourne.
Kwame isn’t slowing down, and will join Vera Blue for two shows this December before playing summer festivals including SPILT MILK, Party in the Paddock, Mountain Sounds, Festival of the Sun, The Hills are Alive and Party in the Paddock.
If 2018 was Kwame’s year as the new king of Australian hip-hop, 2019 is ripe for global domination. Watch this space.
