MEET: Morgan Evans

Morgan Evans is stepping on board the legendary [V] Island Party stage on 25 November. Want to see him on The Island? Enter the competition below.

Nashville-via-Newcastle chart-topper Morgan has been busy on the road touring his album Things That We Drink To. It was just last month that we took in one of his sold out shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and witnessed the magic we’re going to get at the [V] Island Party.

Morgan followed his heart to Nashville, where he now lives with his wife Kelsea Ballerini. Here’s some inside goss: the pair met when they were co-hosting Foxtel’s CMC Music Awards a few years back. Are we (collectively, we’re claiming it) matchmakers or what?!

There’s such a high bar to clear,” he says, of the move to Nashville. “You really have to prove that you have something unique to offer as an artist. As soon as I got my visa and made the move, I was thrown into the deep end of the Nashville life. You’re surrounded by the best songwriters and musicians in the world and you almost need to make a choice to be intimidated or inspired.”

Looking at his impressive string of releases, we think Morgan definitely went the ‘inspired’ route. As he left Aussie soil, Morgan waved goodbye to touring with a band. He was pretty tight with his Aussie band, and instead of replacing them he’s chosen to work on his live show solo. Think awesome lights matched with some pretty cool loop pedal magic.

We can’t think of a better way to take in the sunset over Sydney Harbour than with Morgan playing some tunes on the [V] Island Party.
