Danny Clayton didn't have to decide what he wanted to be when he grew up. Even before he was out of high school, Channel [V] had marked him as a superstar of the future when he first appeared on screen back in 2004 as the winner of the Snapper competition. Since his debut, Danny has fast become one of Australia's stand-out television talents.
Danny's natural charisma, larrikin disposition, and no holds barred attitude, as well as his deep knowledge and love of music, make him a firm favourite among Channel [V] viewers and musicians alike. He's able to effortlessly make a genuine connection with whoever he interviews, be that an artist or a viewer, to get the most entertaining and insightful news. Our resident daredevil, Danny is the first to show you how [V] Stage Dive is done and won't say no to jumping out of a plane either.
Throughout the decade he's been with Channel [V], Danny's worked on many of the channel's flagship shows. He's toured Australia numerous times, covering some of the country's biggest festivals including Big Day Out, Homebake, Soundwave, Splendour in the Grass and Future Music Festival, as well as presented three seasons of B430, Channel [V]'s youth lifestyle travel show covering global festivals, adventure experience destinations, and the ultimate working holidays. He regularly co-hosted Channel [V]'s daily live music culture show, The Riff weekdays and LIVE on Saturdays, as well as co-hosting the recent [V] HITS broadcast of 5 Seconds Of Summer LI[V]E Q & HEY!.
Danny has also co-hosted a number of LIVE broadcasts from the Big Day Out festival and Australian Open of Surfing. In 2009 Danny co-hosted Channel [V]'s massive 10.5 hour live broadcast Sound Relief from the Melbourne benefit concert, and before that coverage of 2007's Live Earth. Throughout his career he has interviewed some of the biggest names in music including Pharrell Williams, John Legend, MGMT, Katy Perry, Jack White, Gossip, Kelly Clarkson, Kaiser Chiefs, Salt N Pepa, Kelly Rowland, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx, Rammstein, Akon, Scissor Sisters, and Mark Ronson, to name just a few.
Danny's talent, however, is not just limited to television presenting. Aside from hosting, he is a skilled cameraman, editor and photographer as well as a DJ. He has produced multiple shows for Channel [V] including Hanging with… Splendour in the Grass in 2010, Hanging With… Falls & Southbound Festivals in 2012 and Road Trippin' in 2013.
Danny regularly hosts [V] Guerilla Gigs and [V] Island Parties, where his knack for hyping the crowd definitely doesn't go unnoticed. Danny's involvement with charity is extensive, with his most recent volunteering being Rock N Ride in association with Headspace and the Big Day Out.
In 2009, Danny was runner up in CLEO Bachelor of the Year. He also had regular guest appearances on Mornings with Kerri-Anne and The Morning Show where he delivered the latest entertainment and music news, he has appeared on Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation and was a regular guest entertainment reporter on Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
Danny has been nominated for a number of ASTRA Awards – Favourite Male Personality in 2014, 2013 and 2012 and in 2011 he was nominated for Most Outstanding Performance by a Presenter and Favourite Personality. Danny was also the host in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Fuel on Skate Park campaign which won an ASTRA Award for Most Outstanding Use of STV in Consumer Advertising Campaign in 2014. In 2014 he co-presented the Award for Best Pop Release at the ARIA Awards ceremony. In 2015 Danny has been nominated for a TV Week Logie Award for Most Popular Presenter for his work on The Riff.
