Video Premiere: Savages - Strife

British post-punk quartet Savages are back with a brand new clip for their latest single 'Strife' and [V] has the exclusive premiere!

The Antoine Carlier directed black and white clip takes place in France on the beaches of Gironde, playing on the idea of human instincts and the desire for survival taking inspiration from the famous murder scene in Albert Camus' novel The Stranger.

Savages spoke of the new video: "We wanted to make a video that focussed on a timeless human physicality and physical expression, a search for understanding through the movement, action and reaction of two characters. We chose the classical landscape of the empty beach. A fight ensues between two men: one older, one younger; a tragic outcome, and death."

Whether you see it as a tale from the past or science-fiction, the intention of the clip is that of an endless story of human struggle, portraying fragmentation between two generations focusing on the notion of "young, intelligent and radical people" living in servitude to established elders.
