Do you reckon you know your music? Then come along for the ride with Cash Cab, Australia's only game show on wheels! You'll be in the safe hands of James Kerley, Cash Cab's debonnaire taxi driver and all-knowing quiz master.
What's the big idea?
Forget primped, canned quiz shows - we bring everyday Aussies straight off the streets of the Gold Coast to test their music trivia knowledge in a battle for prize money. Exclusive and locally produced by Channel [V], Cash Cab is perfect for music experts and anyone who likes spontaneous mayhem. Test your music knowledge and see how far you'd get!
Who are the contestants?
Unassuming passengers step into what they think is their taxi ride home. Their shock is priceless as the Cash Cab springs to life, lighting up with a sensory overload of flashing lights, bells and whistles. And so, passengers unwittingly become the next contestant.
How does it work?
The cab customer turned Cash Cab contestant must answer Kerley's music trivia questions. For every question right, they win cash. But three questions wrong means you're out of the game, and out of the cab!
Loot or the Boot
Once a Cash Cab contestant is into the game, there comes a point where they're offered the big question: The Loot, or the Boot?
They have the option of keeping their winnings to this point, or risking it all for the mystery prize in the taxi boot. Will it be a Nintendo wii or a disco ball? Only Kerley knows. Get ready for edge of your seat quiz excitement. Test your own knowledge and see how far you'd go in the Cash Cab!
Cash Cab is produced right here in Australia, exclusive to [V]!
It's a mini TV studio
The cab used in the show is basically a mini TV studio, created with:
- over 5km of cable
- more than 2000 lights
- a custom moulded ceiling
- 4 lighting universes - 9 laptops
- 8 rolls of gaffer tape
- 2 screens
- 300 watts of sound
- 4 channels of video
- 8 widescreen cameras
- a support vehicle discreetly trailing the cab too.
It obviously takes a very special talent to drive a cab and host a national TV quiz show at the same time. But both in and out of the Cash Cab, James Kerley has quickly established himself as one of [V]’s most popular hosts.
Having won the hearts of the nation’s youngest during his years on the Nickelodeon channel, James now gets to talk to people more his own age about his real passion – all things music.
