Dr. Murray Pleaded Not Guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

Posted on 09 February 2010

In a hardly unexpected turn of events (everyone knew this was bound to happen since the details of Michael Jackson's death started leaking), The King of Pop’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has been officially charged with Involuntary Manslaughter (he pleaded not guilty to the charges).

Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, due to Propofol intoxication – a sedative that Murray prescribed him as a sleep aid. The D.A.’s office said in a press release that Dr. Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson … in the commission of an unlawful act, not a felony; and in the commission of a lawful act which might have produced death, in an unlawful manner, and without due caution and circumspection.”

If Dr. Murray is found guilty, he faces a maximum of four years in prison, Rolling Stone reports.
