The Killers
With a mix of 80s-styled synth-pop and fashionista charm, The Killer’s debut, Hot Fuss, became one of 2004's biggest releases, spawning four singles, catapulting the group into the international spotlight and earning five Grammy nominations. The band’s sophomore effort, Sam's Town, deemphasized the group's new wave sensibilities in favour of something more akin to the heartland rock of Bruce Springsteen and Rattle and Hum-era U2. 2008 marked the Killer’s return to dance rock with Day & Age, which peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums chart and went on to be certified platinum. The Las Vegas foursome are currently in Australia and will play a headlining show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on February 12 to accompany their performances at the 2010 Good Vibrations Festival. The Killers recently announced that they will go on an “indefinite hiatus” soon (read the story here).
